LUO

Our Team

Gavin and Lindsay Tarquinio
Gavin and Lindsay founded LUO, Inc in the spring of 2007 based on a combined passion to see justice brought to children all over the world. Lindsay graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Speech Communication and through various trips to Africa has developed a deep desire to show the love of Jesus to His people. Gavin graduated from Georgia Tech with a finance and economics degree. Following graduation, Gavin was signed with the Atlanta Falcons and played in the 2006 season. After an injury in 2006 he felt a call from God to pursue mission work and hang up his athletic career. Gavin and Lindsay met in 2007 and through a specific calling on their lives, decided to passionately pursue the vision of LUO to set children free form poverty.

Board of Directors

Tim Bailey
Tim became involved in LUO inc. when he met Lindsay and Gavin in the Summer of 2007 and they explained to him their passion for reaching children in poverty. An attorney who practices in Marietta, Georgia, Tim believes he can best use his talents through an organization like LUO inc. to reach out to others. Over the last several years he has traveled to various places in the world and seen first hand the circumstances in which many children live, and Tim believes that through faith and a willingness to follow God where He calls all people can truly be set free.

Amber Douglas
With a love for children, ministry and missions, Amber ventured to Peru in September of 2006 where she spent time at an orphanage outside Cusco. There, she also helped with ministerial needs at a local church in Lima and spent time at a shelter for women and children. Amber met Gavin and Lindsay after she returned from Peru and she fully committed to partnering with the efforts of LUO, Inc. Having witnessed poverty first-hand in several countries, Amber understands the greatness of meeting physical needs as well as spiritual needs. Amber is an alumnus of The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, California and Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is a free-lance violinist and currently resides in Atlanta.

Jessica Duncan
Jessica is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Interior Design. Her love and passion for creating environments stems from a desire to design for children with special needs. After visiting South Africa with Lindsay and working at Ithemba, it wasn’t long before she realized that poverty is just as much of a disability as any physical handicap. Jessica’s heart for LUO is for every child to know Christ and to receive the blessings He longs to give each of them. That the children of this world would truly be unhindered to run into the arms of God embracing every bit of life that has been promised to them.

Kara Rae McConville
Kara Rae McConville’s journey began in modeling in 2000. Her travels took her to many diverse cultures so far removed from America’s ideal life. It was here that she found herself consumed by Jesus’ calling to be His hands and feet to this world. In the spring of 2007 Kara traveled to Ghana, West Africa, where she was captivated by the hearts of Africans. She has since planted herself, along with her husband Matt, in Atlanta where they both work for non profits. Kara has a passion for children all over the world to be set free from their injustice which has led her and Matt to join hearts with Luo to set children free from poverty.

Hannah Joiner
Hannah is currently attending Ga State University to get her degree in Journalism and Political Science. She works in Product Development for the reThink Group, which is a non-profit organization that provides curriculum and products for churches all over the world. Hannah has a huge heart for children and understands that the needs of a child transcends through every generation, no matter the country. Along with many other needs, every child deserves and needs to know and understand the love of their savior, and she believes in LUO’s dream to help make that happen.

Jamie Hargather
Jamie Hargather has lived in Atlanta for 10 years and works in Commercial Real Estate. He lived in Central America in 2005 and experienced the poverty of this region first hand as he traveled through Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. He met Gavin in college while at Georgia State University, and reconnected with both him and Lindsay after school as they began LUO. Jamie will be spending most of his time with us focusing on our efforts in Nicaragua.
